Promoting pupil voice is something that we are passionate about at Woodside. This academic year has been no exception; the formation of a robust Academy council who meet on a regular basis to discuss Academy issues. This has been instrumental in ensuring we meet the needs of our pupils to provide them with the best learning experience and help to ensure their safety.

Academy council representatives have supported at whole Academy events such as parents' evenings and curriculum meetings, acting as guides for visiting parents and answering any questions. The feedback on their contributions from both staff and visitors has been very positive. Members also have a regular morning duty rota to support the younger children and ensure that the start of the day is a positive experience.

Acdemy council met with Mrs Wood (maths lead) to put forward their ideas and suggestions as to how they would like the provision of maths to be in the school. Their input gave Mrs Wood an excellent foundation on which to build future best practice.

Woodside Academy Council were approached by Bexley Youth Council who requested them to take part in a survey to identify how young people feel about being taught the PHSE curriculum, and how gaining life skills and political knowledge could benefit them. Bexley Youth Council would like to know; are students given enough choices for the arts curriculum, that could further career opportunities?

Our Academy council members are prominent when carrying out duties by wearing customised hi-vis jackets and more recently very smart badges!
